Who we are
Our mission
Established in 1991, the Foundation of Public Utility, under the High Patronage of His Majesty the King, has as its primary objective to support the reintegration of minors hospitalized in the child psychiatry unit of the Clinique Saint-Jean.
The foundation also supports other institutions linked to youth protection.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of the Saint-Jean Foundation ensures the medico-social relevance of the selected projects, their coordination, their follow-up, and the proper use of the allocated funds.
The Foundation's Main Objectives
Actions in support of young children in deep psychological distress
Each year, more than 80 children aged 3 to 12, suffering from severe psychological disorders, are hospitalized in the child psychiatry unit of the Clinique Saint-Jean.
Beyond indispensable medical care, the foundation provides them with therapeutic and comforting activities such as hippotherapy or music workshops, as well as the support of a dedicated psychologist. These moments are essential to allow them to regain a sense of confidence, serenity, and self-expression.
Targeted support for children and young adolescents
Through the Youth Protection Service (Service de Protection de la Jeunesse SPJ)
Because a child vulnerable due to a foster care placement needs stability and special attention, the Foundation develops specific support tailored to their needs.
In collaboration with the ASBL Protutelle
The Foundation steps in to support key areas of a young person’s life at the request of the pro-guardian, who will guide them until they reach adulthood.
In the service of healthcare for all
At the request of the social service department of the Clinique Saint-Jean, when all other options for financial assistance have been exhausted, the foundation covers part or all of the hospitalization or medical costs.
Our Funding
In order to achieve its objectives, the Foundation relies on several sources of revenue: donations from private individuals, significant support from other foundations and commercial enterprises, proceeds from sales at the second-hand clothing store, as well as from organized concerts.
Our Hands-on Support
Personalized support with the Protutelle Service
Our collaboration has enabled us to support 17 vulnerable young people. Thanks to this initiative, they received direct and tailored assistance that met their essential needs.
Well-being and self-esteem with the ASBL Solidarcité
We supported the implementation of thematic workshops designed for adolescents and young adults. These sessions aim to build self-confidence, a key step toward their personal growth.
